PARK CITY STYLED ENGAGEMENT

Choosing a location for your engagement session may seem to be a daunting task. Maybe you can't decide between downtown vibes or that mountain air. Maybe you want that desert sun or that green, green grass and trees. As a photographer, I want to tell your story. I want people to know how you fell in love, and the things you like to do together. Whatever it may be, following these tips may help you narrow down on that perfect location.

1. Choose a location that is special to you and your partner. Do you like to fish together? Let's head to the pond. Do you like to hike together? Let's head to the mountains. Do you bike together? Let's head to a trail. Maybe you met on a certain bench downtown or maybe you had your first date at an ice cream parlor! Wherever it may be, choose some place that is special to you or represents you as a couple. Not only do clothes play an important role in representing yourselves, so does a location!

2. Use your resources. Do you know someone that has access to property that no one else does?!! Let's use it! Get in contact with that person and see if they'd be willing to let you use that property. There is no better way to express individuality than a location that no one has ever used!

3. Make sure that your location and outfits mesh well together. Sometimes, if you are having a hard time choosing a location, think about the outfits you have planned and mentally put them in different location types. Which one looks the best in your mind?

4. Keep your wedding theme in mind when choosing a location. Your pictures will most likely be displayed at your wedding and used on your wedding announcements. Pick a location that vibes well with the theme you are going for. Are you going for classy and elegant? Let's head downtown and use all the twinkle lights and street lamps. Are you going for a boho vibe? Then maybe we head to the desert and use those Joshua Trees!

For most couples, when planning for engagement pictures, its important to remember this is probably the first time for both of you! Everything from posing to kissing can feel weird in front of someone else. That is a good thing! Weird comes across well in photos when you embrace the awkward and laugh through it.

Here are a few last tips:

-Prepare yourselves for the session and weather. If it's hot bring some water, or if it's cold bring a blanket or two for in-between shots.

-Being prepared also means giving yourself plenty of time before the shoot to get ready. Being late is only taking away from your own time!

-Lastly, remember that your engagement session is for YOU! Every couple will have unique ideas, poses, outfits, styling, etc. Live it up! Your engagement session should celebrate your love as a couple!
